Tesla physical products

Purposeful controls, material care, accessory interfaces, and recovery behind a restrained product.

Status: research-only. Checked: 2026-10-09.

North American Cybertruck and Model 3 owner documentation; not a vehicle evaluation or visual product-page audit.

A restrained exterior still has functional landmarks.

Cybertruck's exterior overview identifies door-release buttons, a card reader, cameras, lights, cargo access, and a charge port. It warns that equipment varies by configuration.

Proposed translation: Document control and service locations alongside the whole object; identify configuration differences before presenting a single idealized product view.

Why: A calm surface must still tell a tech how to operate and service the actual equipment.

Refuse: Copying an angular vehicle silhouette or hiding a useful control to preserve a render.

Proof required: On a full-size Thorbis sample, ask intended operators to locate normal controls, connections, and service access without coaching.

Thorbis specimen verification: unperformed.

The material promise includes care and aging.

Tesla describes an uncoated stainless-steel exterior, changes in reflectivity and color over time, and material-specific cleaning and scratch-repair guidance.

Proposed translation: Specify a Thorbis finish together with its cleaning, expected aging, and repair procedure. Validate these on the intended production material.

Why: An honest finish choice accounts for the years after unboxing, not only the first photograph.

Refuse: Transferring Tesla's cleaning instructions, corrosion claims, or stainless-steel choice to an untested Thorbis finish.

Proof required: Review finish samples after documented use and cleaning cycles; verify the maintenance instructions against those results.

Thorbis specimen verification: unperformed.

Minimalism does not mean removing every physical control.

Cybertruck's interior overview lists steering-wheel scroll controls, hazard flashers, window switches, pedals, a manual door release, and an overhead secondary drive selector alongside the touchscreen. A rear screen is configuration-dependent.

Proposed translation: Decide which Thorbis actions require a direct physical path using consequence, gloves, attention, and recovery needs; keep configuration-specific capabilities explicit.

Why: A simpler-looking object is only useful when essential actions stay reachable in the actual working conditions.

Refuse: Treating a central screen as permission to remove a physical stop, release, or other critical action.

Proof required: Evaluate each critical action on a sample under the intended operator's workload, clothing, lighting, and credible failure conditions.

Thorbis specimen verification: unperformed.

A central display creates a recovery obligation.

Cybertruck and Model 3 use touchscreens for many controls and document how to restart an unresponsive screen. Cybertruck warns that status, safety warnings, and camera views are unavailable during restart and that restart is performed stopped in Park.

Proposed translation: For proposed Thorbis hardware with a display, identify what remains available during restart, loss of connection, and failure; document a safe recovery path separately from normal controls.

Why: Consolidating controls concentrates failure. Recovery needs to be designed at the same time as the calm normal state.

Refuse: Copying Tesla's in-car menu layout, swipe gestures, or screen-dependent controls into a dispatch workbench or mobile app.

Proof required: Exercise the proposed hardware's display and connection failures; verify the remaining control paths and recovery instructions on the sample.

Thorbis specimen verification: unperformed.

Loss of power deserves its own instructions.

Tesla provides different front and rear mechanical door-release procedures when low-voltage power is unavailable. The manual distinguishes these from powered operation and includes use cautions.

Proposed translation: Describe the applicable power-loss procedure at the physical product and in the manual; test whether intended people can discover and perform it safely.

Why: A recovery mechanism is not an effective exit if the person needing it cannot find or understand it.

Refuse: Copying the rear-door release location or claiming Tesla's documented fallback proves its discoverability or safety in Thorbis equipment.

Proof required: Observe first-time operators performing a safe simulated power-loss task; record errors and assistance rather than assuming the manual is sufficient.

Thorbis specimen verification: unperformed.

An accessory interface includes limits and installation proof.

Tesla relates accessory loads to vehicle configuration and carrier geometry. Crossbar instructions specify orientation, tools, two-person installation, seating feedback, and a physical security check.

Proposed translation: Publish the Thorbis accessory's compatible models, attachment orientation, required help and tools, retention checks, and independently verified limits together.

Why: Shared appearance alone cannot establish compatibility, correct installation, or load capacity.

Refuse: Borrowing Tesla's load numbers or presenting a magnetic attachment as universally appropriate for loaded accessories.

Proof required: Verify incorrect orientation, full seating, retention, supported configurations, installation help, and test conditions on actual assemblies.

Thorbis specimen verification: unperformed.

Evidence gaps

Form, exact finish, lettering, lighting appearance, and badge placement

Manual text was readable, but direct diagram downloads were denied; no visual inspection is claimed.

Inspect accessible official imagery and production references before proposing dimensions or a detailed visual translation.

Product-page layout, photography, renders, and variant presentation

The public Cybertruck and Model 3 marketing pages exposed insufficient readable content in this session.

After migration, conduct a bounded live-page review with screenshots and distinguish observations from Thorbis's own Showcase contract.

Packaging, unboxing, and consumer assembly

The reviewed owner-manual sections do not establish a consumer packaging or unboxing system.

Use Secretlab and Apple packaging evidence for the Product rules owner; do not infer vehicle packaging practice.

Ergonomic outcomes, durability, safety, and numerical performance

Manufacturer documentation identifies features and procedures, not independently measured Thorbis results.

Apply the research intake gate and obtain relevant prototype evidence before any requirement or product claim is adopted.
